What To Expect
The members at the North East church of Christ want to invite you to come and worship with us. We desire that all of our visitors feel like they are our special guests. We strive to extend a warm, friendly welcome to everyone who comes to worship with us. We believe you will find a group of devoted individuals seeking to worship God in a way that follows the Biblical pattern found in the New Testament. We seek to show others the same love and compassion that our God has extended to us. Our desire is that all that we do will be acceptable to God as we worship Him in Spirit and in Truth (John 4:24).
Our Worship Service
As the New Testament church is established in the New Testament, we read that they were a group of believers that worshipped (Acts 2:42). As we continue to read through the New Testament we find that the early church gathered on the first day of every week and that they participated in different acts of worship while they were assembled or gathered together (Acts 20:7). We believe that you will find our services to be Biblical, orderly, and spiritually uplifting.
In every aspect of our worship to God you will find Biblical commands and examples that come directly from God’s own words. While you worship with us you will observe:
Singing Just like the first century Christians we read about in the bible, we will sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. These will include songs of praise, instruction, and encouragement that are sung from the heart by all who assemble together (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16).
Prayer These are times to speak to our Heavenly Father together, in which we make requests, offer praise, and give thanks (Acts 2:42; 1 Thessalonians 5:17).
The Lord's Supper On Sundays we will partake of the Lord’s Supper as Jesus instructed us to do on the first day of the week and as we see the example of the early church. This is a weekly communion of unleavened bread and fruit of the vine in memory of Jesus’ death (Acts 2:42; 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:17-34).
Giving On Sundays a plate will be passed around the congregation for our members to give a contribution as they have prospered, following after the teaching and example of the New Testament. Visitors are never asked to give. You may if you would like, but it is not expected. This collection is taken up from among the members of the church each Sunday to be used to accomplish the work of the church (1 Corinthians 16:1-2; 2 Corinthians 9:6-7).
Preaching and Teaching We desire to share with you the word of God, without addition or subtraction (Galatians 1:6-8). These lessons are intended to teach God’s plan for salvation and build up those who are striving daily to live in an acceptable way before their heavenly father (Romans 1:15-17). These lessons are designed to help us all to grow in faith, commitment and service to God (Acts 20:7).
We would love to have you come and worship with us. We are also happy to share God’s word with you and answer any questions that you might have. We hope to see you soon!
